The ALBERTA CHILDREN’S TRAUMA CENTRE was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 2006.  The conception of this organization was in the works for many years prior.  The Trauma Centre grew out of the needs of children, caregivers, educators, and other professionals who recognized that more effective information, training, strategies and supports are necessary to positively impact the lives of children who suffer the effects of childhood trauma and attachment issues.  Adults/professionals involved in the live of these children struggle to meet the children’s needs and are heartbroken when they feel that they have failed.  This loss not only affects the child, but also their caregivers, teachers, case managers, and many others.
